Description:
The Mucho Gusto 14ft is a compact yet character-rich classic runabout, designed with balanced proportions and a purposeful hull form suited for relaxed cruising and light utility use. With her gently rising sheer line and refined deck sweep, Mucho Gusto carries the timeless elegance of mid-century wooden pleasure craft in a highly manageable 14-foot platform.
Our workshop faithfully recreates this design using premium Western Red Cedar, Mahogany, and Teak, reinforced with U.S.-made Hexcel fiberglass and protected by System Three marine spar varnish. Each boat is built entirely by hand through the traditional plank-on-frame method, requiring approximately 4-5 months of detailed craftsmanship. Clients may customize wood selection, deck finish, cockpit layout, engine configuration, and interior detailing while preserving the classic geometry of the original design.
Structurally, Mucho Gusto features multiple evenly spaced frames, a strong transom mounted on stringers, full-length longitudinals, deck beams, shaft alignment, breast hook at the bow, and reinforced stem assembly. The hull lines reveal a smooth run aft, designed for efficient propulsion and stable planing at moderate speeds.
Her moderate beam and well-distributed volume allow comfortable seating while maintaining a nimble, responsive feel on the water-making her ideal as a small family runabout or refined yacht tender.
Principal Dimensions:
- Length Overall (LOA): 14 ft
- Beam: ~5 ft
- Transom Height: ~15-17 in
- Forward Depth (Stem Area): ~28-30 in
- Shaft Line Angle: Moderate incline suited for small inboard configuration
Hull & Performance:
Mucho Gusto features a gently curved sheer, clean chine definition, and a smooth aft run optimized for small inboard power. The hull form prioritizes stability and predictable handling rather than extreme speed, making her well-suited for lakes, rivers, and protected coastal waters.
The proportional cockpit space provides comfortable seating while maintaining structural simplicity. The transom-mounted stringer system ensures rigidity under power, and the refined underwater lines support smooth cruising performance.
This wooden boat crafted by us is built from Classic Wooden Plan, with full credit given to the original designers. For each custom commission, we acquire the appropriate plans and construct the boat to order-offering both full-size vessels and finely detailed scale models.
History:
Mucho Gusto was conceived as a compact recreational runabout during an era when small wooden powerboats became increasingly popular for personal leisure use. Designers of this period focused on clean construction, efficient hull geometry, and accessible size-allowing owners to enjoy dependable performance without the complexity of larger cruisers.
With her straightforward structural layout and elegant sheer line, Mucho Gusto represents the enduring appeal of classic American wooden boatbuilding-combining functional design, balanced performance, and timeless craftsmanship in a versatile 14-foot package.
